To be able to lodge a valid application for this visa, you need to submit and EOI and then be invited through SkillSelect to present a petition. After submitting the application, it is entirely up to the state or territory government to decide whether to nominate you to apply for a visa or not. They view your Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. You are allowed to include your partner, your child/step-child or your partner’s child/step-child in the application.

Skilled – Nominated (Provisional) Visa (subclass 489): This is an Australian State sponsored visa and for the qualified people wishing to live and work in a regional or low population growth area in Down Under, for up to a maximum period of four years. You can also present an application for this visa if you hold a provisional visa in subclass 496, 495, 487 or 475.

Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485): This visa is basically for the international students who have recently graduated from an Australian Educational institution. It can last from between 18 months and 4 years depending on your specific situation.

Skilled—Recognized Graduate visa (subclass 476): This visa is 18 month work visa for the recent engineering graduates. You must be younger than 31 years of age, have obtained an engineering degree at a recognized institution in the past two year to present an application for this visa.

Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887): This permanent visa is essentially for the individuals who have lived for at least two years and worked for not less than one year in a specified regional area of the nation. You can submit an application for this visa if you’re in Oz or hold a Subclass 489, or Subclass 496 and Subclass 475 or 487 Visa.
