BC PNP Strategic Occupations- Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled!

This category of the BC PNP Strategic Occupations Stream is meant for those foreign nationals who intend to work for eligible British Columbia employers that provide services in the field of tourism and hospitality; truck hauling; and food processing industries. These industries are a integral part of the BC economy. They form a vast part of the province’s export-oriented economy, and at the same time there is continuous labor shortages in these industries. This is the reason why the industries are included in the pilot project of the BC PNP.

In order to be able to apply for the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled Pilot Project, foreign workers must hold the experience of full-time working for their employer in British Columbia, that sponsor them at least for a period of nine consecutive months. In addition, they should be working as a regular worker with the same employer when they file their petition with the BC PNP.

The BC PNP considers nominee applications for certain occupations in the field of tourism and hospitality; food processing; and truck driving. For the eligible occupations, the provincial program requires applications to have highest educational qualification of secondary level. In addition, applicants must have English language skills. However, sometimes BC PNP or Labor Market Opinion approved employment offer forms may mention that the jobs do not require the applicants to have proficiency in the language, but in such a case, the applicants are required to appear in either of the IELTS, TOEFL or LPI, which should be sponsored by the employer. Still an applicant fails to exhibit the basic proficiency, the employer is responsible for the enrollment of the applicant in a recognized English language program.
