British Immigration Data Reveals Decrease Of One Third

According to the fresh immigration numbers made available recently by the concerned British organization the net immigration for the year ending in June 2012 was nearly 33% lesser than what was seen in the year ending in June 2011. The said organization claimed that immigration led to the nation’s populace swell by 163,000 in the year to June 2012, vis-à-vis an increase of 247,000 during the year gone by.

Meanwhile, London has welcomed the news even as the nation’s immigration minister allegedly proclaimed that the government’s hard and no-nonsense reforms are bearing fruits. He added that the administration has tightened the paths where abuse was widespread & rampant, in the process, bringing down the overall numbers remarkably.

The minister further said that London will continue to toil hard, and leave no stones unturned at all, to ensure that the overall net migration is brought down. The said numbers is accordingly calculated by deducting the volume of the emigrants from the volume of the immigrants registered during a said course of period.

Significantly, during 2010, the incumbent British Premier David Cameron had pledged to decrease Britain’s net immigration numbers to less than 100,000 per year by 2015.

50% of the reduction due to students

However, some critics don’t seem to be much convinced with government’s claims even while one such critic, in fact, observed that the given figures show that the administration is not concentrating on the type of immigration which troubles the common man the most. He added that as much as 50% of the decrease is thanks to students even as 30% of the net migration is thanks to more nationals leaving the nation’s shores.

Echoing somewhat similar sentiments, another detractor reportedly observed that the administration’s apparent success in decreasing immigration is self-defeating, and it does not solve any real purpose. She added that much of the alleged reduction in immigration is actually due to a fall witnessed in the volume of the overseas students arriving in Britain.
