Canada Immigration came with a new announcement of expanding the Temporary Foreign Worker pilot project – aiming to allow the Alberta recruiters to keep an eye on foreign skilled workers and hire them for certain occupations that are highly demanded and face a huge shortage of skilled workers.
Commenting on the need of such expansion, Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenny, said, “Alberta has been facing an acute shortage of labour since a long time. So enabling this pilot project is an effort of offering relief to the region, which will help it to hire overseas skilled workers on temporary basis.”
He further revealed, “The expansion of program was quite needed especially considering the need of Alberta, will definitely serve its purpose of catering the need of skilled workers in the region.
Seeded in June 1, 2011, the said pilot project was introduced with the purpose of allowing more skilled migrants in Alberta – the workers granted to work on temporarily basis in any specific occupation.
The visa program actually comes with a work permit for allowing the skilled worker to move frequently between Alberta employers – for that – they don’t need to get authorization from Skills Development Canada and Human Resources.
“After consulting with the Alberta employees and going through our own labour requirements, we finally came to a conclusion of expanding the project to include many highly demanded occupations,” said Stephen Khan, Alberta Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education.
