The election is approaching in Canada and the result of the election may results in potential immigration changes. These potential changes may have implications bad or good for global migrants aspiring for Canada visa programs. There are five prominent parties racing for election and having their own and different mandates for immigration programs after being elected. Strengthening the efficiency of the immigration system of Canada is the general and concurrency point of all these parties.
The Conservatives party is campaigning with the promises such as imposing stringent laws on human smuggling, rationalize the deportation process of foreign criminals, foreign credentials identified easier and faster and most important is imposing Canada permanent residency status conditionally for two years for sponsored candidates by a spouse or common-law partner.
The Liberals party has assured to lessen the backlogs and waiting times of visa applications, increased quota for Family Class immigration, advancing the method of recognizing foreign credentials and raised funds for language training programs for migrants willing to advance their English or French.
The National Democratic Party mandates to fast-track family reunification, reduce visa waiting times, lessen the backlog of visa applications, speed-up the identification of foreign credentials, build up better appeals and practices for visitor visa applicants, tough laws against crooked consultants, recall funds for immigrant settlement groups and introduce Once in a Lifetime Act allowing a one-time chance to sponsor a relative to migrate to Canada although not a member of the family class.
The Green Party is campaigning with the pledges like assigning larger funds for language training programs in English or French language proficiency, enhance and facilitate the integration of immigrants into the society, stringent regulatory policies to watch immigration consultant practices, develop a program for people residing in the nation without official status to enjoy full landed immigrant status and amendment in the Public Safety Act and Anti-Terrorism Act to entertain formal charges against all detainees.
The Parti Quebecois has concealed their immigration cards in the election campaign, though they have proposed some changes in the province of Quebec but dint mentioned in detail and also about any change in federal policies. The upcoming election is watchful for prospective migrants and PR holders as a new government will result in major changes in ongoing immigration policies. Let’s hope for the best and may the new government keeps in line with the Canadian policy to attract more and more immigrants.
