Canadian Visas Going Biometric!

Beginning next year, Canadian visas are due to go biometric. Commencing next year, a five year project which is a part of a joint collaboration between three identities would come into action. These identities are:

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

Under this project, Canadian visa applicants would be seen fingerprinted and photographed under the process of filing their applications. The year 2013 will see the implementation of the state-of-the-art biometric system.

According to an official press release, the officer present at the Canadian port of entry would verify the identification of the visa holder at that place. It would be checked whether the person holding the visa at present is the same who was issued visa earlier.

The implementation of this system would ensure that fake travelers are barred from entering the country as well as from using fraudulent documents and visas. In addition to that, the biometric system would ensure that no other person is mistaken for his or her identity at the port of entry.

Till now, countries like the US and Great Britain are using the technology of Biometric system, hence ensuring that right applicants are entered in the country. The initial stage would witness the implementation of this technology for Temporary Resident Visas like Student Visas and Work Permits.
