Curtin Immigration Detention Centre Reopened!

The Curtin Immigration Detention Centre saw its reopening, and with the same, the statistics saw the transformation of 94 asylum seekers from Christmas Island. It is speculated to hold an arena of 40 kms and would play handy when it will comes to holding so many asylum seekers, keeping in mind the number of huge detainees flocking in at Christmas Island.

The Detention Centre would take care of the detainees who are facing the current processing suspension. Western Australia is witnessing the opening of second accommodation in one month. The previous instance was when certain clan members from Afghan, Sri Lanka and Iran moved to Leonora.

Immigration and Citizenship Minister Chris Evans confirmed that the first flight is on its way. It is decked with 94 people. The upcoming days will see more of flights carrying more people (95) which make the total to 189 people.

It has been affirmed that all of them are from Afghan. Managing all these people at one place would become easier for the authorities at Curtin, and the latter is a perfect place to provide them with right kind of facilities.

Senator Evans confirmed that the facility would be given additional staff members to cope up with the additional detainees. This would include managers, professionals dealing with medical and education facilities, to name a few.

All the people who have been moved to the centre have gone through medical check ups at Christmas Island.
