According to certain fresh reports, the American Republicans are not too happy with the disclosure that the Obama administration is drafting immigration overhaul legislation. Through a statement, an annoyed Republican has alleged that it is a BIG mistake for the government to draft immigration law, minus involving the Republican members, and getting inputs from them.
He received support from an ex aide of the president when the latter observed that Barack Obama committed an error by exhibiting his draft legislation to a large number of individuals. The aide was quoted as saying that the mistake was to publicize the bill so much that the same got leaked.
Though the president has vowed that he will make immigration restructuring a key priority this year, the American Congress does not seem to be unanimous and appears rather divided on the issue. Apparently, in recent years, there have not been many cases of bipartisan co-operation.
As one would have thought, the two primary US political groups—Democrats & the Republicans—hold each other guilty for the given situation. This could be the reason why Obama has declared that he is keen to involve a famed group of 8 senators, widely known as ‘the gang of eight’–who allegedly support immigration overhaul—for the drafting of all-inclusive immigration improvement bill.
