Every no and then Canada is constantly working towards discouraging terrorism and so far the country is successful in making itself a safer place to live in! Of late, the country implemented new rules that restrict Canadian travelers from carrying large printer toner cartridges. However, experts are not in favor of the rules, who say that such rules would not prevent terrorist threats.
According to Arne Kislenko, an expert, even though the country is taking such an step to prevent travelers from bring toner cartridges while traveling by air, he is pretty much sure these measures are not going to stop or diminish the terrorist attacks to national security. Kislenko was head of the security and immigration team from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
The new rules not only put banishment to large toner cartridges, they also ban any kind of mail or cargo from Yemen. These regulations were implemented after officials in Dubai and Britain happened to uncover 2 U.S.-bound parcel bombs in cartridges coming from Yemen. Ever since, officials have been maintaining that cartridges weighing over 454 grams should not be permitted along any checked luggage/cargo of any flights departing from Canada airports. Moreover, cartridges are also banned from carrying inside the carry-on bags for any outbound flights to the U.S.
Reportedly, according to authorities in America the bombs carried inside cargo packages were meant for destroying the planes carrying them. Till the last week, all cargo that are originated or traversing Yemen were banned from entering Canada. Of late the regulation was extended to mail from Somalia.
Earlier, such measures have also been taken by the United States. Arne Kislenko said that instead of tracking bad things, Canada should look for the culprits!
