H-1B visas running out

According to an announcement made by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), 62,800 H-1B petitions have already been received by the department till January 21, 2011. So, there are just 2,200 visas left for the applicants to file their petitions.

Till now, an annual fiscal year restraint of sixty five thousand visas has been recognized by the US Congress. This means every year, 65,000 petitions can be filed by the overseas workers with a minimum qualification of Bachelor’s degree.

H-1B category is Specialty occupations under which highly skilled workers apply under the H-1B visa. It is a non-migrant visa under which qualified applicants have the freedom to gain employment in the US for a span of up to 6 years.
