The BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is essentially an economic immigration plan molded to assist the province meet its rapidly growing labour market needs. The scheme assists recruiters/firms draw and retain trained overseas employees who possess the expertise and experience to contribute to the province’s economy. It also chooses entrepreneurs prepared to invest in the province’s economy and generate employment opportunities for the nation’s citizens & permanent residents.
The PNP is run and managed by the Province of B.C. in partnership with the federal administration, via the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The PNP evaluates petitions even as it nominates applicants for permanent residence, post which the CIC makes the final decision on each petition before issuing Permanent Resident Permits to the successful aspirants.
As it is known, the scheme is one of the most famous provincial programs. British Columbia nominates applicants who later qualify under provincially established criteria for Permanent Resident Status. Post approval, the eligible immigrants, having the required skills and experience, may receive a British Columbia Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will allow them to submit a petition for the prized and the much sought after Canadian Permanent Residence status with processing times that is faster than other Canadian immigration category.
Under the above category, there are two sub classes you can apply under and make use of:
Strategic Occupations: This category is especially for worker class who has received a full-time job offer from an employer in British Columbia it is further classified into these sub-categories:-
- Skilled Worker Category: It is basically for individuals who have received an eligible job offer in a skilled occupation from a local employer in British Columbia.
- Health Care Professional Category: It is for people having experience and an eligible job offer as a physician, nurses, psychiatric nurses or allied health professionals.
- International Graduates, B.C Degree Category: It is for graduates with a Masters or Doctoral degree from a certified educational institution in British Columbia. For this category, you do not need a job offer to submit your application.
- International Graduates, Canadian Degree Category: It is for individuals who have graduated from an eligible Canadian university or college outside of British Columbia during the last two years. To be eligible a job offer is must.
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category: Workers in certain entry-level or semi-skilled positions in tourism/hospitality, food processing may be eligible.
- Northeast Pilot Project Category: Individuals living and working in the Northeast Development Region of British Columbia, including in occupations considered semi and unskilled, are eligible to submit an application without a job offer
Business Immigrants: This category is for Individuals who intend to settle and invest in the province permanently. This program is classified into these sub-categories:
- Entrepreneur Category: It is basically for senior managers or business owners who intend to invest funds into a proposed business in the province.
- Regional Entrepreneur Category: Senior managers or business owners who intend to invest funds into a proposed business in British Columbia, at anyplace outside of the Vancouver & Abbotsford metropolitan areas are qualified.
- Strategic Projects Category: Foreign-controlled companies can set up an office in British Columbia, and up to five key foreign managerial, professional or technical staff members can be given nomination for permanent residency in the province.
- Regional Business Succession Option: People who aim to purchase and run an existing British Columbia business. This option is appropriate for any of the three categories above where the business is positioned outside of the Vancouver & the Abbotsford metropolitan regions. Remarkably, the successful applicant’s petition of is duly processed within no time.
