No Restrictions On Skilled Students In UK: Premier

In a positive development, from Indian perspectives, the British Prime Minister has proclaimed that no restriction at all exists on the volume of the Indian students, who may pursue studies in Britain, or on the number of those who may afterwards stay there for work purposes—after they are through with their graduation.

David Cameron declared this, prior to his tour to India. He allegedly informed the media that no restriction whatsoever has been put on the total number of students, who may arrive from India to pursue studies across the many UK universities. He added that all one requires for the said purpose is a primary English qualification, besides a spot at a UK university of one’s choice.

Further–post completing one’s gradation–the involved person may even get suitably employed with a graduate-level occupation. He continued that no restriction whatsoever has been placed on the volume of individuals who may reside and get employed on the British soils, or the time period for which they may continue to be employed fruitfully.

Of late, London has framed fresh regulations and controls, in the process, making it quite tough to pocket a Tier-4 Student Permit to pursue studies in Britain. The government has also made it rather difficult to get employed in the country, shutting-down many permit tiers to fresh aspirants. Presently, the Tier 2–the qualified migrant permit tier—is the chief permit meant for the employees from abroad, who could be keen to get suitably employed in the nation even while it’s vital to get the needed sponsorship for the same. This also has become much more difficult & harder.

UK will be extremely welcoming

But, Cameron made it clear that London still rolls-out red-carpet welcome to Indian students. He also emphasized that it is still not difficult for those students to work in the UK after they have done gradation. He declared that though his Coalition administration hadn’t conveyed the message that it is eager to see as many Indians coming to work in the UK as were keen to do so, he is interested to correct this.

The PM further said that the government requires sending across that message to the gifted young individuals in India, and declaring that–in case an aspirant wants to settle for the given choice–the UK will be unbelievably welcoming, and it will not create roadblocks in any manner.

Cameron also informed the media that the UK has important cultural & historical ties with India which may lead to a special association in the 21st century. He added that it may be a unique association.

Reduce immigration numbers

When Cameron was the chief of the Opposition during 2010, he had apparently informed the media that, in case he becomes the premier, he would cut-down the overall immigration from the then level of 260,000 per annum to 10s of 1000s a year, even while the same, at all times, has been taken to denote under 100,000 per annum.

30% drop in Indian students’ number at British universities

Sometime back, a concerned person reportedly observed that the shutting down of the Tier 1 (After Study Work) permit class and the not too positive and encouraging speeches made by the British ministers had decisively played their role in decreasing the total number of the Indian students filing visa-petitions for the Scottish universities during 2011-12, on the preceding year, by as much as 30%.

In a related development, recently Cameron reportedly informed the British MPs that his administration was making plans to curtail the migrants’ right have access to social security benefits, besides legal & health services.
