Rigorous US Visa Screening Upsetting Indian IT Firms!

US immigration seems to be taking a new turn altogether. Recently, it has been noticed that more and more business visas to the United States are being refused. These visas include the B1, H1 and the L1 visas. In the last few months, this number has been constantly on the rise. The visa interview seems like an interrogation.

According to IT companies, immigration personnel seem to be showing a higher level of aggression towards Indians. This is especially being noticed at the US airports when Indians come to the US legally on business visas. There have been instances where many professionals have been subject to deportation.

The circumstances have reached to such an extent that Nasscom had to interfere in the situation. The IT industry body has written a letter to Timothy Roemer, the US ambassador in India regarding the issue. However, Nasscom refused to give out the details on the matter. Though, it has admitted to have received complaints from the various member-companies and had addressed the issue with the US embassy in New Delhi.

This letter is expected to have presented that the companies which have been impacted are good firms and have adhered to the guidelines. More so, the matter has also been taken to the Indian government. However, it is yet to be seen whether or not this issue would be taken up when President Obama visits India.

Most of the major IT firms in India which also includes the US based organizations have claimed to have experienced some or the other such difficulty. However, there have only been few who have actually reported, the rest being scared of being a victim for the rest of their visas which are in the pipeline.

Many instances have been described where in the employees from these firms have been subject to third degree questioned. They have even been accused of lying and that the documentation they have is all fake. The instance went to such an extent that these people were finally asked to sign a statement claiming that they were sent on an illegal visa. In the end, these professionals had to withdraw their application and came back.

It is being clearly projected from the above that the attitude of the US immigration officials need to be looked into. At the same time, such instances would definitely hamper the Indo-US relations and would impact the economy.
