Settlement and Contribution Requirements- Skilled Migrant Category!

Settlement and contribution requirements are also one of the requirements of the Skilled Migrant Category which applicants have to meet in order to obtain a New Zealand resident visa.

Skilled applicants are assessed if they have the ability to utilize their skills, thereby contributing to the New Zealand economy and settle successfully in the country. Applicants are considered to have demonstrated their ability to settle and contribute to NZ if;

  • The principal applicant qualifies for 50 points for having a skilled employment offer or currently employed in the country for less than 1 year; OR
  • The principal qualifies for 60 points for a current skilled employment in the Kiwi country for 1 year or more; OR
  • The principal applicant has undertaken full-time study for at least 2 years in the Kiwi country which has resulted in- (a) the award of a Doctorate or Masters degree; or (b) a qualification in a field which is relevant to an occupation currently having skill shortage.
  • If the principal applicants do not earn points for any of the above factors, he/she will be assessed further.

  • If married, provide the resume for your spouse as well.
  • If applicable, please provide information on children and their age.
  • Information on any blood relatives residing in New Zealand. This is not a compulsory requirement to qualify for immigration to New Zealand, but serves as additional positive assessment and suitability factor.
