Mohammed Abdullah Warsame, a Canadian citizen has been sent back to the country after his release from a prison in Minnesota in the United States. Abdullah has his origin in Somali, but has been citizen of Canada. A terror suspect, this Somali-born was guilty of having connections with Al-Qaida, as well as Osama bin Laden.
Abdullah was arrested in the year 2003 on the basis of the change that he provided material support and other resources to the terrorist organization. It was also surfaced that he attended the training camps of Al-Qaida and the some lectures delivered by Osama bin Laden, over his tours to Pakistan and Afghanistan. As per the documents of the court, he Canadian was even being paid by the Islamist group in order to return back to Canada.
However, it was in May, last year Abdullah admitted his connection with Al-Qaida. After the confession, he was put behind the bars for ninety-two months, with credit for time served. As part of his plea deal, he has agreed to be sent back to Canada. Last Friday, he has been handed over to Canada Border Services Agency, as confirmed by the officials of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The thirty-seven-year old Somali-born convict is now in the custody of Canada Border Services Agency. Now, it is up to the Canadian officials how they deal with the convict.
