There are many ways through which a Canadian can file for the Income Tax Return. TELEFILE is one of the simplest ways you could consider for your filing. It is the way where you can file for the taxes through phone, however, this way would be suitable if you have a simple income tax return to file. TELEFILE is basically used for basic income tax information like pension income; registered pension contributions; employment income or interest income.
Before you could use TELEFILE, all you need to do is to complete your income tax return using the income tax package that you collect for the province in Canada where you reside. The package contains a return form, and number of other forms called schedules. Once you are done with this, then you can call a toll-free number using a touch-tone phone. While doing this, you will be guided through instructions for entering your income tax information. For this year, this service is available from February 15 to September 30.
In order to use the TELEFILE service, make sure you:
- Receive a T1S-C, T1 Special, or T1S-A form.
- File a return as an individual who works on wage-basis or a student.
- File for simple taxes, such as basic income; credit amounts or income deduction.
When you sue TELEFILE service, you get confirmation in no time and you are able to know that your income tax return was received. The CRA ensures quicker return, usually within 2 weeks.
