With the number of deportations being conducted on a rise, many illegal residents in the United States are consulting lawyers to frame legal documents incase they are the next in line to be deported. It has been reported that attorneys in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona are being contacted by undocumented immigrants to form their documents which would contain information pertaining to the outcome which their families would have to bear. It also caters to information regarding their belongings.
According to Fort Worth Immigration Attorney, Jason Mills, a culture of fear has developed among immigrants. Such queries have only come to the surface only this year when the immigration laws in the United States were made more stringent.
Some of the instances which have led to these circumstances include children being left stranded in their schools while their parents were detained when they were at work. More so, the wives of the detainees are not able to access the bank account of their husbands. These have led to the need of legal documents to be created by these undocumented migrants.
In the last one year, this culture of fear has increased as a record number of 392,000 deportations being carried out. With this, the immigration law introduced in Arizona has been the most worried about. This law gives authority to the local police to check the immigration status of people who are suspected of being undocumented. More so, many other states are thinking of laws on similar lines.
