US, one of the Few Nations to Offer Birthright Citizenship, says Report!

As per a research on the global immigration laws, it has been found out that the United States has stood out as an exception to the increasing trend of stringent policies when it comes to immigration throughout the world. A legal policy analyst has brought out a report which states that the United States is one among the only thirty nations in the world which allots a birthright citizenship for children who are born to illegal migrants.

The report is known as “Birthright Citizenship: A Global Comparison” has been written by Jon Feere from the Center for Immigration Studies. The report mainly concentrated on the policy of the United States which permits an automatic birthright citizenship. In his report, Feere asserted that the United States and Canada are the only developed nations in the world with advanced economies which permit this form of citizenship.

It has also been mentioned in the report that the 14th Amendment which contains the Citizenship Clause never had the objective for the illegal migrants to benefit from it. As per a recent poll which was released by the Quinnipiac University, about 48 percent of the voters in the United States think that the laws pertaining to birthright citizenship should be amended. On the other hand, another 45 percent feel that this law should remain the way it is. At the same time, 67 percent of the voters from the Republicans want this policy to be changed.

As per another report by the Pew Hispanic Center which was published by the Los Angeles Times project that of thirteen babies born in the United States, one has a parent who is an illegal migrant. Above all, immigration being a controversial issue, it is important to approach the subject with utmost sensitivity.
