While initially a 9-month work visa is granted to successful applicants under New Zealand Long Term Business Category, a further work visa for 3 years may be claimed by the 9-month work visa holder, however, he must apply for the same within the validity of the 9-month work visa.
A Long Term Business visa holder can also apply for a further work visa beyond the period of 3 years. For that matter, the applicant must make the immigration officials believe that he has genuine reasons to obtain a further work visa in order to meet the minimum requirements to obtain residence under the Entrepreneur Category.
A further work visa beyond the initial 3 years is granted, given the immigration officials is satisfied with the following:
- The principal applicant’s time in the Kiwi country has been used up for setting up and then operating the business originally proposed at time of applying for the temporary work visa under the Long Term Business Category; OR
- If the principal applicant had made changes to the original business proposal, he must have received the approval from a business immigration expert; AND
- That the principal applicant along with his accompanying family members in NZ have not sought any support from the country’s welfare system; AND
- That the principal applicant have the intention to spend his time in further period in the Kiwi country by implementing the original or the subsequent business proposal; AND
- That the principal applicant has investment and settlement funds to be in New Zealand; AND
- That the principal applicant and his accompanying family members meet health and character requirements.
