Sarbjit Singh, and Ashok Masah, two undocumented migrants were suffering a state of limbo, with both failing to provide their identity proofs, confirmed the Leicester Mercury. Both of them were extremely eager to return back, but some how the circumstances were going against them.
Courtesy their failure to arrange for their documents, they could not return back to India- their country of origin and hence were bound to live on a pavement for a close to five months.
Now these immigrants have found some respite with the fact that they would be sent back to India, courtesy MP Keith Vaz who have arranged for their documents, to be granted by the Indian High Commission.
It was not long back when the MP held a meeting with Immigration minister Phil Woolas, in an attempt to solve the issues of the concerned immigrants. He said that the men are eager to go back to India but they don’t have the required documents.
He confirmed that the Immigration minister has written a letter to the Indian government confirming his happiness to send the two men back to their home country; therefore the Indian government can solve the issues linked with their passports and other documents.
Reports say that the duo has refused various helps provided from various welfare agencies. Moreover, Community leaders are reportedly found saying that the duo should be kept in detention centers on which the UK Border Agency elaborated that illegal immigrants are kept in the same only as a last resort.
The support from the minister would further ensure that the duo would be sent back, provided they get the documents as soon as possible.
