The most active province was British Columbia inviting 632 new invitations in draws held between May 7 and 26 under its Tech Pilot Program, Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams.
Ontario, the most desirable province for immigrants also issued 703 Invitations to candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The CRS scores also hit the lowest since its first draw in July 2019.
Nova Scotia invited Registered Nurses to apply for provincial nomination in order to get the permanent residency under its Labor Market Priorities Stream. The number of invitations have not been disclosed.
Prince Edward Island invited candidates who belonged to essential services industries and would cater to the economy of the province by substituting for the domestic shortages of labor. A total of 15 invitations were issued in the draw held on May 15th 2020.
Other provinces that remained active are Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Each one of them invited candidates in the different streams available under their respective provincial nominee programs.
Not only in April and May, but June has also started with two draws within a week, one from Ontario and another from Manitoba.
The trends are suggestive of the fact that Canada is on a hunt for eligible immigration candidates. There is a lot of scope for individuals aspiring to be a part of Canada. Despite the travel bans and stalled situation, Canada is not halting the immigration procedures and draws. Rather it has been more welcoming than ever.
