Canada is Likely to Get More Irish Immigrants in 2011!

As revealed by the Canadian government officials, the country is going to require record high immigrants in the coming year, thanks to an aging population and low birth rate. Canada will need more overseas people to meet its economic demands, as its locals are aging, alarming a shortage of skills.

However, the country’s immigration minister announced that Canada is most likely to stick to its current migration level when it comes to welcoming permanent residents. This year’s, the North American nation’s set quotas for permanent residents is between 240,000 and 265,000. As for 2011, the immigration department is likely to keep the cap same as 2010, as hinted by Jason Kenney.

The immigration minister also acknowledged the importance of immigration in Canada, post recession. He said that the current Canadian economy requires a high level of immigration in order to retain the strength of its workforce. It was also said that the country’s labor force growth is dependent on its immigrants, especially for the next half decade.

Amidst of all this, it was also revealed by government officials that Canada can expect a significant inflow of immigrants from Ireland in the coming days, considering the North American country is a popular immigration destination among Irish people. Financial crisis in Ireland is one of the many reasons as to why Irish people may consider immigrating to Canada.

The fact that Irish people seeking jobs in Canada is quite evident from the job portal, launched by Irishman Eamonn O’Loghlin. He set up the website for online job seekers in collaboration with the Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce, which caters to Irish people and help them finding jobs in Canada, as well as moving to the country. According to O’Loghlin, Canada has always been a welcoming towards Irish people, thus this has been a popular immigration destination among the latter. Ha also hinted that Irish people interested in immigrating to Canada are mostly looking for jobs like mechanical engineers, IT system analysts, construction managers, accountants and marketing executives.

Moreover, according to the Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce’s report, many Irish companies are all for investing in the Canadian market. Canada already has over 220 Irish companies that are selling goods and services in its market, and about 45 companies from Ireland have their operations in Canada.
