Papatoetoe, New Zealand: A labor candidate intending to stand for the local board has been caught into illegal voting procedure. It has been reported that Daljit Singh, the man in concern, made use of forged electoral documents to increase the votes in his favor.
Singh, the man in concern has been the resident of the country since the past 17 years. In addition to that, he has been involved in various job responsibilities like marriage celebrants and a known immigration consultant as well. Moreover, he was involved in the movement of Sikh rights too.
Now the irony is that he along with anther man has been charged with fraud voting scam to turn the votes in his favor. The involvement deals with electoral fraud in the country but nothing has been proved as yet. He was taken into custody on Tuesday.
If reports are to be believed, Singh tried to merge with the top people of Labour but was never allowed to have the top position as far as backing is concerned. Now the police officials are stating that he made use of fake documents and registers so many voters. In some cases, he didn’t leave any stone unturned in claiming that almost 40 people reside in one home.
According to law experts, Singh may be charged of two years jail and if he goes on to face conviction; he would face disqualification as the member of the party. He is likely to face more charges against him in future.
