How the system works?

Why it is named Express Entry?
The main aim of introducing Express Entry is to process the application in six months, and hence it is named Express Entry. Six months time period starts from the date an applicant submits a complete Permanent Residence (PR) application after receiving the Invitation to Apply (ITA).

The system was introduced on the January 1, 2016.
Under the system do the requirements for the Economic programmes changes?
No, there are no new requirements/changes under the economic programmes. The system manages and selects applicants under the existing economic programs.
How long does a profile of the applicants stay in the Express Entry Pool?
The same can stay in the Express Entry Pool for not more than 12 months or till the time applicant does not receive an ITA, whichever comes first. Post 12 months, the candidate will have to start afresh and thus they are required to create a new Express Entry Profile.
