How about Becoming a Canada Permanent Resident?

The Permanent Resident Card, also known as the PR card is an official document or legal proof of your status in Canada as a permanent resident. Canada PR is considered as equivalent to the Green Card of United States. Post 2002, immigrants automatically get their PR cards on their Canada arrival. In case, prior to 2002, you were a Canada PR and just have a Landing Record, you will have to apply for Canada Permanent Resident Card.

However, after every 5 years period, Permanent Resident Card in Canada gets expired, therefore, once the period is over, you will have to apply for renewal of the PR Card.
