India is Against New U.S. Outsourcing Fee!

The Indian government is expressing all its criticism against this new battle which has emerged over the issue of ‘outsourcing.’ It was not long back when U.S. announced increasing the fees on work visas to almost double its amount for the prospective Indian IT companies who intend to send workers to the country.

According to Anand Sharma, who is the Indian Trade Minister, this step taken by the US government is “highly discriminatory.” He has expressed his concerns through a written statement to his counterpart, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk. He has further commented that it is beyond explanation that our firms should bear such high amount of fee structure. The law is highly discriminatory.

The news has not given a very favorable effect on the stock market as well. The stock prices of IT companies like Infosys suffered a major hit as more and more investors are showing their worries on this particular issue.

As economic Times reports, this issue is not just about the increase in fee prices. It is about the circumstances which it would lead to in the coming times. It is just the beginning; stated Sudeshna Sen.

It is likely that other Western government would soon follow the same trend the way US is going so far. Sen has called Nasscom (which is Indian IT industry’s lobbyist) to come out with a campaign and let everyone understand as to what Indian IT workers do. Till then, we have to wait and watch, where this issue of “outsourcing” takes us to!
