According to the Head of Task Force on Illegal Migration in Arizona, the investigators have more time in hand to catch the instigators of the gangs involved in smuggling. According to Captain Fred Zumbo from the State Department of Public Safety, the task force which is also known as IMPACT is finding less number of he drophouses which are packed with undocumented migrants.
However, the investigators were able to follow certain links which took them to a house in Phoenix. Here, three people were arrested and other information was also found. This further led to aim other smugglers involved in this racket.
As per Zumbo, IMPACT has moved on to such a phase where the raw intelligence is taken up and further leads are followed based on this intelligence. There was no time for exactly get into the details regarding the organization behind. This was because the task force was chasing the megadrophouses. Each week, the task force was raiding these drophouses which had about forty to fifty people in it. This clearly means a lot of paperwork ahead.
On the other hand, it is being said that the number of illegal migrants have constantly reduced since 2007. As per Zumbo, the reason behind this decline in number has been stricter enforcement of the law. However, there are others who feel that the economic downturn was also a major factor which led the Mexicans as well as the Central Americans away from trespassing.
