The present SOL 2016 – 17 is applicable for the following applicants:

  • Family sponsored point based visa
  • Graduate work stream – temporary graduate visa subclass 485
  • Independent point based category – nominated either by a state or territory government /agency.

The Department of Education and Training has reviewed the SOL, and after it a new SOL was introduced in July 2016. From the old list certain occupations were removed and two professions added–Orthotist or Prosthetist (ANZSCO 251912) and Audiologist (ANZSCO 252711).

Following are the occupations removed from the SOL 2016 – 17

  • Mining Engineer (Excluding Petroleum) (ANZSCO 233611)
  • Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612)
  • Metallurgist (ANZSCO 234912)
  • Environmental Health Officer (ANZSCO 251311)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (ANZSCO 251312)
  • Dental Hygienist (ANZSCO 411211)
  • Dental Prosthetist (ANZSCO 411212)
  • Dental Technician (ANZSCO 411213)
  • Dental Therapist (ANZSCO 411214)

Following is the requirement for the Skilled immigration to Australia

Age: At the time of submitting the visa petition the aspirant must be less than 50 years.

Language proficiency: To get the skilled visa, the candidate must be fluent in English and to prove it he must submit the language score, such as TOELFL, IELTS, OEFLiBT, PTE, or OET.

Nominated occupations: You must submit an application using a job given on the SOL.

The DIBP leaves no stone unturned to welcome those highly talented skilled immigrants to its shores who are not likely to become burden on the country’s economy and thus skilled immigration to Australia remain the top priority.
