The Skilled Worker Program under the Provincial Nominee Program of the Canadian province Yukon is designed to enable its employers nominate the international skilled workers and hire them for the need of the economy. In other words, international skilled worker who have the intention to immigrate to Yukon and the capabilities to contribute to the provincial economy can consider this particular category of the Yukon Nominee Program. However, the category is purely employer-driven.
Employers make use of this YNM category to fill up position in the labor market with foreign skilled workers, since the skills required for the positions are sometimes not available in local workers. The Skilled Worker Program is further divided into two sub-categories-
- Skilled Worker
- Critical Impact Worker
Below are the eligibility criteria of the Skilled Worker category:
- Applications must have an employment offer from an employer based in Yukon in hand. The jobs offered to them must have to do with occupations that are included in the ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘O’ levels of the NOC.
- Applicants must have the sufficient language proficiency required of the job offered.
- Applicants must possess the certification required for the offered occupation/job.
- Applicants must not be an asylum claimant.
