The ‘Maple Leaf country’, Canada, has a New Year gift for all its prospective immigrants! Starting from January 1, 2015 Express Entry system will be the first step to immigrate to Canada. It an electronic system through which potential immigrants will be able to complete online profile once the scheme opens. The objective of the plan is to fill in open jobs for which there are no qualified professionals in the nation.
Also known as the ‘Expression of Interest’, Express Entry Programme will offer an easier visa path to the aspirants, and it will help the nation pick immigrants, based on their professional skills that it requires. The requirement of both national Government and Canadian Employers will be kept in mind.
Reportedly, the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Minister believes that through Express Entry system the employers from the country will be able to bring skilled professionals with the main objective of making them stay in the nation for a long term.
In a recently held press conference, the minister stated that employers can bring their Labor Market Opinion (LMO) and job offers to the much awaited Express Entry Program, and make sure that the skilled professional one requires arrives in the nation as an immigrant, and not just a temporary foreign worker.
Express Entry system will not only be the first step to immigrate to Canada in 2015 but the program also aims at providing smoother entry to one’s dream destination, as the program will start accepting applications from the first week of January.
Through an online profile, the soon-to-be immigrants will be able to apply to express their interest in coming to the Maple Leaf Country, by simply answering a questionnaire, mentioning their professional skills, education qualification, language proficiency, etc. At a later stage, the skills of the prospective immigrants will be matched with the requirements of the Canadian labor market identified by different provinces, territories and employers.
Once a suitable match is found, the CIC will offer an Express Entry to the candidates who may have applied through:
- Federal Skilled Workers Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class Program or,
- Business Class Program
The future immigrants who have applied through the Provincial Nominee Program may also be benefited under the newly introduced program, provided the concerned territory or province has brought their program under the federal one. The CIC has extended invitation to Express Entry applicant for applying for Canadian permanent residency only if they have a job offer or a provincial or territorial nomination.

- Initially, an investment of $14 million will be made in next two years, Thereafter $4.7 million will be invested annually.
- The program is cap-free and has an occupational list.
- Quick processing, maximum period is six months.
