Canadian Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney has confirmed that the year 2009 saw India bagging up the top position as far as becoming the best source nation of immigrating/moving to Canada is concerned. Amongst the states, Punjab topped the chart while providing the maximum number of immigrants to the country.
Hence, Ottawa is intending ahead of inviting more talented Indians who have the ability to provide their contributions towards the development of the country. The minister went on to say that more than thirty two thousand PR visas were given to the Indians in the year 2009. There was a hike of 13 per cent when the same statistics were compared with the year 2008 and surprisingly a hike of 53 percent as compared to the average of years 1997 till 1999.
The minister also stated that Canada didn’t put any check on the number of new applicants who would be coming to immigrate to the country, just like the other developed nations have done.
The minister went on to say that the diplomatic ties with India play a critical role and they are strengthening with the passage of each moment. Canada is also in full support of the nuclear industry of India, which in future will play a critical role in strengthening the energy needs of India. According to him, human connectivity is the most vital ingredient, an aspect which is deepening every moment.
Stating something about the study visa, the minister said that the number of student visas given to Indian students have witnessed a hike. In addition, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) scheme has been inaugurated to assist the Indian students who are intending to enroll in various Canadian universities.
