Top Automakers Warn UK Immigration Minister!

There are many organizations, associations and educational bodies that have been opposing the UK’s immigration cap on non-European Union immigrants. Of late the world’s three of the leaders in automobile makers have warned UK’s immigration minister about the possible consequences of a permanent cap on UK visas.

Recently, the heads of the automakers viz., Honda, Toyota and Nissan issued the warning mentioned the aftermaths of implementing a permanent cap on visas for international immigrants. The warning has already been sent to the UK’s immigration minister Damian Green.

According to the heads of the carmakers, if UK implements such a cap on immigrants, they would suffer a lot, which would include the limited access to the world-class skilled overseas workers. And when there would be shortage of highly skilled workers, the carmakers would definitely face difficulties in developing new car models in the UK. As a consequence, limiting production in the UK would definitely risk many jobs in the nation. These three automobile makers employ more than 10,000 people in Britain altogether.

The UK government is going to impose a permanent cap on visas in April 2011. However, it is yet to know about the specifications the new cap would boast, but the UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron indicated that the cap would be more relaxed than the temporary cap which is currently in place.
